In folding box, dark blue, gt. 79pp, 8vo. In plain white card wraps, in blue dustwrapper printed in black, with red border to cover. Ownership inscription in blue ink on front free endpaper: 'Christopher Fry | 1930'. Hardly the best of copies, but a good association between two of the three giants of the twentieth-century English verse play (Eliot being the other). Internally tight, on lightly-aged paper, in aged and worn wraps. The dustwrapper is in poor condition, stained, chipped, and separated into several loose parts along the folds, with spine and back cover tipped-in onto the wraps.

70 + [1]pp., 8vo. In blue cloth library binding. On aged paper, with split between title leaf and rest of volume. Label and stamps of the Royal Agricultural Society of England. Author's inscription (with slight damage to last two words) on front free endpaper: 'The Roy. Agricultural Society from the author'. Six copies on COPAC.

46pp., 8vo. Stitched and in original plain grey wraps. Aged and worn, in fraying wraps. The pamphlet is anonymous, but carries the following inscription in pencil on the half-title: 'hommage | a Mademoiselle Bergeret | Artiste, de la part de l'Auteur. | Voïart'. The only copies on COPAC at the V & A, and the British Library. This copy lacks the lithographed frontispiece portrait of Prud'hon, by Voïart, present in the copy in the Bibliothèque Nationale, which is ascribed to the wife, whereas other authorities ascribe the work to the husband.

15pp., 8vo. Unbound pamphlet. Aged and worn. In manuscript at head of title-page: 'Dr Ainsworth from the Author'. In a short preface Soden explains that several members of the Association have asked him for a copy of his address, and that, although he does nto think it worthy, he has 'therefore had a small impression printed for private circulation only, in order to save the trouble of transcribing, [...]'. Scarce: only three copies on COPAC (BL, Bristol and Aberdeen).

343pp., 8vo, with sixteen-page publishers' catalogue at rear. Frontispiece and six full-page illustrations (one for each story). In blue cloth, with decorations in gilt on boards, and gilt titles on spine, all edges gilt, and attractive patterned endpapers. In fair condition, on aged paper, rebacked. Inscription on reverse of frontispiece reads: 'To Mary Charnock, | from the Author, | Mrs Rhoda E. White, | with every kindest wish.

Both parts in fair condition, with light signs of age; the second part with creased corner causing damage to the last couple of leaves and back cover. Two stapled pamphlets, uniform in grey printed wraps. PART I. 'Stone Age to 8th Century A.D. | Illustrated.' [4] + 13pp., 4to. Frontispiece and two full-page illustrations, with two more illustrations in text. Inscribed on front cover 'With the author's best wishes | Xmas 1921'. PART II. Limited Edition, no.464 of 600, designed by John B. Goetz. There is a calligraphic presentation inscription on the front free endpaper, "Presented to Anthony Rota [distinguished modern first dealer] on the occasion of the Septmber 28, 1988 meeting of the Caxton Club with the appreciation of the members and guests whose signatures appear below." There are 81 signatures, commencing with Charles [?] Cullen, David G. Hilliard and concluding with Harrison Hayford and an indecipherable.

First edition, 8vo. Laurence A216a. Original red cloth, speckled, lettered in gilt on spine, hinges cracked, in damaged dustwrapper. below). Inscribed on the half-title: "to Yvette Pienne, player and writer, | G. Bernard Shaw | Malvern | 23/8/36." WITH: unpublished photograph, 19 x 14.5, of Bernard Shaw with a bevy of youngish ladies including Yvette Pienne according to a note (NOT in Shaw's hand, prob. Pienne's) on the reverse, "Malvern Festival 1938 || G. Bernard Shaw | [?] Lewis | Yvette Pienne|".

Vol. II: 8vo, 465 pp., good condition. Inscription on fly-leaf: 'To | Guy Repp | from | [signed] Henry Miller | 3/4/42'. With R. J. Stanewick's ownership inscription in pencil on reverse of front wrap. (Miller signatures from this period are uncommon. The recipient Guy Repp was an actor associated in the 1930s with Orson Welles's Mercury Theater of the Air, who also featured in 'Citizen Kane'.) Internally tight and sound on aged paper, in worn and chipped wraps, with broken spines.. A few light pencil underlinings (by Stanewick?). The second volume is scarcer than the first.

Letter: 1p., 4to. Good, on blue paper. Addressed to 'Dear Gerry', it reads: 'Please accept the enclosed book. I hope you & your family are well & flourishing. We have to soldier on - with some hope in our hearts - despite the molestations of a dark age. | The best there is | [signed] Hugo'. Book: 34 + [i] pp., 8vo. Very good copy; in fair dustwrapper, with slight spotting at head. Limited to 550 copies. Inscribed on half-title 'To Gerald & Anne Long | wishing them peace & all good things | [signed] Hugo Manning | 1976'.

The title-page has been inscribed by the husband of a member of the Powys Society who was giving the booklet to Margaret Eaton, bookseller (Peter Eaton), also a member of the Powys Society. Enclosed: Photograph, 15 x 8cm, probably of aged Llewellyn Powys reading a book

90[6]pp., 8vo (six-page catalogue of Bell & Daldy's "New and Standard Publications" at end), in slipcase, green cloth in good condition, pattern in relief, gold motif of laurels surrounding the title, hinge strain at title/frontispiece, some speckling throughout, some pencilled underlining, and childish daubing of colour onto three of the illustrations. INSCRIBED as follows: "This book was written by my mother [letters crossd out] the stories read to me & Walter for our amusement in 1857-8 | J Parker Smith".

Pp.[1]-16, 8vo, disbound, numbered "13" in pencil, fold mark, spine showing wear, mainly good condition, inscribed "John Clay Esq | with the Author's | Kind regards".

Fair, on aged paper, with a little foxing to first few leaves, and light damp-staining at head. P.15: 'We are, then, to understand by iatreusis, the exercise, by the physician, of the healing art. [...] The duties devolving upon the physician in treating a case of disease are twofold. First, he has to institute a diagnosis, and having done so, he has, secondly, to practise his share of therapeutics in treating the case according to the view he has taken of it.
