3pp., 12mo. Bifolium. In good condition, lightly-aged. Scharf had illustrated her 'Life in Ancient India' (1856), and she writes informally, expressing regret at the news of his move 'from the Classic No. 1., a house consecrated to the Arts by your occupation of it & ever to be remembered with respect, regard, pleasure & all good feelings'. (The reference is to Scharf's home at 1 Eastcott Place, Camden Town, from which he moved on his appointment as Secretary to the newly-formed National Portrait Gallery.) She thanks him for his 'additions & corrections' to her 'List', and hopes that 'the affair is nearly off my hands. I am going to <?> to discuss Bindings. I think of putting the little man with his top-knot reading the - outside in gilt!' Clearly referring to his work on her 'Life in Ancient India', published the previous year, she thanks him for the return of 'all my scaps', and praises him for having been 'most exemplary, in cases of all things great and small'. She ends by telling him her plans, which include a visit to Germany.
