One of the editors of the Dictionary of National Biography (born 1882). The recipient (1886-1957) was a noted archaeologist. Two pages, 12mo. In poor condition: creased, grubby, worn, stained and repaired. Weaver has just been reading Crawford's 'extremely interesting autobiography with its most original title' ('Said and done. The autobiography of an archaeologist', 1955), and cannot think why 'we have hardly ever met again since the Keble days - so I seize the opportunity now to say how much I have always admired your wonderful achievements - above all in making Air Photography the Exact Science that now it is'. Discusses fellow-students at Keble Sprent and Hewitt ('Sprent was my close friend - his death ended a rather unhappy life, I fear'). Discusses in brief his activities since retiring from Trinity College the previous summer. Signed 'J. R. H. Weaver'.
