A nice selection of ephemeral material connected with the foundation of one of Britain's six Legal Deposit libraries. The collection in good overall condition, lightly aged and worn (but see description of Item One). The first two items end with signatures in type of: John Williams, President; J. Herbert Lewis, Vice-President; Henry Owen, Treasurer; Evan Davies Jones, Chairman of Building Committee; John Ballinger, Librarian. ONE: Printed programme, titled: 'National Library of Wales | Aberystwyth | A Short Account of the Buildings | The Foundation Stone of which will be laid by His Majesty King George V. July 15, 1911.' The publication dated from Aberystwyth, 19 June 1911. 14pp, 4to. With fold-out frontispiece view of the 'Proposed Buildings' and two plates ('Plan of the Main Floor' and 'Interior of the Library Hall'), all three on shiny art paper. Stitched into brown faux-cloth card wraps, with title duplicated in green on cover. Tipped-in at the back is a 'Special Notice' regarding departure after 'the ceremony', with facsimile signature of 'John Williams | President.' Also a perforated 'Form of Subscription' on blue paper. In fair condition, aged and worn, with closed tear along spine of wraps, frontispiece a little curled at fore-edge, and some spotting to title-leaf. TWO: Printed pamphlet titled: 'The National Library of Wales | Aberystwyth | A Description of the Permanent Building | The Foundation Stones of which were laid by Their Majesties King George V, and Queen Mary, July 15, 1911. The publication dated from Aberystwyth, June 1914. 8pp, 4to. Stapled into grey printed wraps, with title on cover. With same frontispiece as Item One, as well as the same two other plates, but with parts of the 'Plan of the Main Floor' coloured in pink. THREE: Printed invitation card to the laying of 'the Foundation Stone of the National Library of Wales [...] by His Majesty the King', 15 July 1911, from 'The President and Court of Governors of the National Library and the Reception Committee'. Made out in manuscript to 'William Saunders, Esq., B.A., B.Sc.' On one side of a 22.5 x 30 cm piece of card, with rounded edges. Printed in light-green, gold and red. With special envelope carrying printed facsimile in grey of the Library's seal, with stamp and postmark, addressed to Saunders at the 'County School, | Llandrundod Wells'. FOUR and FIVE: Two identical printed 'Grand Stand' tickets of admission to the 'Laying of the Foundation Stone of the New Buildings By His Majesty the King, 15th July, 1911.' On both sides of 10 x 15 cm piece of card with rounded edges. Embossed with the Library's seal, and with 'Plan of Stands' on reverse. Made out in manuscript to 'William Saunders B.A., BSC.' and 'Miss Saunders'. In brown-paper envelope with printed address to 'The Honorary Secretaries, | Royal Reception Committee, | The National Library, | Aberystwyth.'
