He begins with reference to the giving of the recipient's 'Directions' to 'the Gentleman', before turning to the anti-Catholic agitation: 'As I never heard of the allarm [sic] taken about Popery, but from the News Papers, I took it to be a thing little attended to. I am assured no step is to be taken in the matter this Session. It is therefore the business of every Friend to our Constitution to prevent the Protestants from being deceived into any Acts of violence.
