8vo (23 x 15 cm), 32 pp. Stapled. Outer pages in blue. In fair condition, with a little damp-staining at the head of the first leaf (with minimal effect on the text), and a tiny dab of the same staining continuing at the corner of each leaf (not affecting the text). Title-page on cover illustrated by C. H. Dennis, showing Uncle Sam sharpening a razor of 'GOOD CUTS'. Note on page 2 begins: 'THIS CUT BOOK contains a few of the many varieties and styles of cuts which we carry in stock and use on your printing free of charge. We have many more and are constantly adding new designs. [...]'. Among the illustrations are a man breathing fire, a man with a joke flower squirting water into another man's eye, a tiger's head, a photographer taking a picture of a bathing beauty, a man in a coffin with the notice 'KILLED BY CATARRH', another man in a coffin with the notice 'THIS MAN WAS TALKED TO DEATH', a dancing black couple, a black man driving a donkey to break a vase handle while announcing ' "GUESS NOT!" DAT HANDLE'S STUCK ON WID LONDON CEMENT.', a phrenological head, a woman polishing a tea pot, locomotives, grotesque figures. Also generic letterheads (e.g. 'Wholesale & Retail Mail Order Merchandise', 'Leading Mail Order Supply House'). Scarce: no copy in the British Library, on COPAC, or on WorldCat.
