[IV] + 525 + [7]pp., 4to. In blue cloth quarter-binding with paper boards and cover printed with architectural diagram design. Announcement on first page reads: 'HILL & SMITH LTD. | Have pleasure in submitting herewith illustrations of some of their manufactures. They hope to issue a priced list at a later date, when markets for raw materials, etc., become more settled. They will, however, be pleased to submit a quotation at any time upon request, either for articles of their standard pattern or for special designs, borth ornamental and constructional, which they will make to meeet requirements.' The firm boasts of being contractors to the Admiralty, the War Office, the Air Ministry, and other government bodies. At the front, on p.IV, is an 'Index to technical information contained in this book', with entries from 'Barbed Wire Weight' to 'Work Constants'. At the rear, over three pages (XI-XIII), is a 'Complete Index | Covering all Sections', from 'Air Ship Shed' to 'WORK BUILDINGS, Shipbuilding'. All manner of subjects are included, from 'Public House and Hotel Signs', 'Glazed Verandahs' for cinemas and restaurants, 'Commemorative Gates', 'Railings for Racecourses and Bowling Greens', 'Wrought-Iron tree Guards' and 'Ornamental Cast Iron Fragments'. Excessively scarce: the only copies traced on COPAC and OCLC WorldCat at the V&A Libraries, London, and Columbia University, New York.
