The correspondence - brought about because of a monograph Dibdin is writing 'on the Liverpool 18th century artists', begins with an enquiry about the painting 'The Fishery' by Richard Wright, in the Walker Gallery, for which the artist received a premium of thirty guineas from the Royal Society of Arts, and proceeds with discussion of the other Liverpool artists Peter Perez Burdett and William Tate, with a final discussion regarding the Society of Artists. Dibdin's papers are in the British Library.
