From the celebrated Monckton Milnes collection. Sir Mountstuart E. Grant Duff quotes this 'characteristic' note from memory in his 'Notes from a Diary' (1897), in recalling looking through Lord Houghton's 'most remarkable' collection of autographs at Fryston in January 1870. 1p, 12mo. In good condition, with paper stub from album adhering to one edge. Folded twice, causing the ink to offset onto a blank part of the leaf. Reads: 'mon bon monsieur donnez une bonne stalle au jeune Michel Lévy et Dieu ne vous la rendre pas | Rachel'.
