All four items tastefully and crisply printed. ITEMS ONE AND TWO ('Catalogue' and first number of 'Album'): Both 8vo, bound together in original dark-green wraps. 'Catalogue': 12 pp; 'Album': 22 + [i] pp. All edges gilt. Wraps creased and worn, with slight chipping at head of spine. Some creasing to prelims and last few leaves. Note to 'Catalogue' (by 'D. L. | S.') explains that the 'following List contains the titles of such Books as have been printed for the Bannatyne Club since its Institution in February 1823'. Note to 'Album' states that it 'contains the titles of the various Works illustrative of the History and Literature of Scotland, recommended for publication'. Last page of 'Album' carries a note requesting that Club Members transmit titles of 'such Works as they may deem proper to be inserted in such a Register'. ITEM THREE (second number of 'Album'): 12mo, 16 pp. [those following the title leaf paginated 27-40]. In (original?) marbled wraps. Tight copy, on lightly aged paper. Slightly dogeared. Warps worn and lightly creased. Printed note on verso of title begins 'THIS List, containing the titles of various works recommended for publication, is drawn up in continuation of a former one which was circulated among the Members of the BANNATYNE CLUB, in 1826.' ITEM FOUR (third number of 'Album'): 12mo, 17 pp. In original grey wraps. Prefatory note 'To the Members of the Bannatyne Club' by Laing dated 'Signet Library, | March, 1854.' Unopened. Tight copy in grubby, creased and worn wraps. Slight creasing to first two leaves. Crisply printed. The first paragraph of Laing's note reads 'IN December 1825, a Catalogue, under the title of ALBUM, NO. I., was issued, containing Notes of various Works, illustrative of the History and Literature of Scotland, recommended for publication. This ephemeral production was followed in 1831 by NO. II., continuing the list of Desiderata; and after a long interval, the present NO. III. is now prepared by direction of the Committee.' All four items are scarce. The only copies of the 'Catalogue' listed on COPAC are at Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Manchester and the National Library of Scotland. The only copies of the 'Album' numbers on COPAC are at Glasgow, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, the National Library of Scotland and the Bodleian. The only one of the four items listed here at the British Library is the third volume of the 'Album'.
