Two pages, 12mo, bifolium, fold mark, good condition. "[...] I have long past felt a great interest with [sic] the history of the Irish Townshends ['''] and your leter is most interesting." He is glad that his correspondent's son had an "unexciting time" in Mesopotamia, and is none the worse for it. "As you can imagein my time is taken up with the question of rewards and honours for those who served under me. For myself I do not want any honours but I believe I am to go to a command in India in the autumn though I would rather have a command in Ireland [...] He discusses some of his domestic arrangements and asks about Castle Townshend (near Limerick). Note: Apparently no command in India materialised, he resigned from the Army becoming an M.P. Hois command at Kut gets mixed reviews (Siege of Kut, 1915-16).
