An actor able to dictate terms!. One page, 4to, sl. aged, fold marks, sl. crumpled but text good and clear (in somewhat awkward handwriting). I wish my Brother - Master [?] Grossmith - to give One [sic] evenings entertainment in Hull [underlined] (on his return from Newcastle) in about a fortnights time;- I should therefore feel obliged if you will inform me whether the Theatre Royal [underlined] has been open lately - for what other entertainments) and the lowest terms [double underlining] for One night [underlined] - | Having all my own Scenery &c (constructed to fit up in Public Rooms [Underlined]) - & Halls [underlined] - / the Proprietor of the Theatre Royal Liverpool - Manchester - Newcastle - Exeter - Plymouth &c have let [underlined] my Brother these Theatres, & on all his recent visits, at considerably less [two words underlined] than the usual terms [both words underlined] - & I trust, under those conventions & the [?] of these times, you will also make them as low as possible [phrase underlined].- | An answer by return of post or [?] - directed to me at 'Post Office Sunderland' [underlined], will very greatly oblige - On receipt of whole - if I decide on coming, I will immediately fix the night & find the Cash [underlined twice].
