Three printed, interesting and uncommon items celebrating the three-hundredth anniversary of the defeat of the Spanish Armada. All three in good condition, with light signs of age and wear. The first two items relate to a theatrical production at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, to commemorate the anniversary, Item One being a catalogue of an exhibition that had travelled up from Plymouth. ONE: 'Catalogue of the Exhibition of Armada and Elizabethan Relics Held in the Grand Saloon of the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London. Opened October 24th, 1888. Compiled by W. H. K. Illustrations in text and two fold-out plates. In a three-page introduction Wright explains that the current exhibition is based on that held at Plymouth earlier in the same year. TWO: Programme for the 'Armada Tercentenary. Opening of the Exhibition at Drury Lane Theatre, Wednesday, October 24th, 1888. An "Orchestra di Camera," under the direction of Mr. WALTER SLAUGHTER, will perform a Selection of Music during the afternoon.' 1p., 8vo. On thick fine paper with deckled edges. (Plymouth: W. F. Westcott, Printer and Publisher, Frankfort Street. 1888.) 56pp., 8vo. Unbound and stapled. A few illustrations of coins at rear. Wright states that the pamphlet contains 'the substance of a lecture (slightly elaborated) which has been delivered at various times and places during the past few months […] Should it have no other effect than that of arousing a patriotic enthusiasm in the anniversary of the destruction of the Spanish Armada in this year of grace 1888, his object will be attained.' £120.00
