2pp., 12mo. In good condition, lightly aged. Written in rather patchy English. He thanks him for his letter and declines his proposal, explaining that 'circumstances prohibit my accepting your invitation in taking part in your plan, my time at present being to [sic] much taking up'. He continues: 'Here in Norway the literature upon the subject is collected in the 2 essays of me and Waage', i.e. the Norwegian chemist Peter Waage (1833-1900). He gives the details of two essays on chemical affinities, published in 1847 and 1879.
