Dimensions roughly three and a half inches by three. One page, blank reverse. On aged paper, with some staining along one edge and crude ink marking, including 'Bookes bound', in a contemporary hand. Twenty-seven lines, beginning 'ROBERT AKENHEAD [...] sells the Goods followsng, [sic] viz. | BIBLES, Common-Prayers, and all other Sorts of Books of Divinity, History, Physick, Mathematicks. He likewise sells all Sorts of Stationary [sic] Wares, [...] Musick Books, [...] Standishes of the Best sorts, Fiddle Strings, [...] Spectacle Cases, [...] Where any Chapman may be furnish'd with the newest Pictures History Books, Ballads, and Song Books, at very reasonable Rates. He likewise buys Gentlemens Libraries, or any Parcel of old Books, and makes large Allowances to any who will deal with him, by Wholesale: Where Gentlemen may have Books bound after the best Manner.' According to BBTI Akenhead senior began trading in 1716 and founded something of a dynasty: Robert Akenhead III trading in Newcastle until 1847.
