INSCRIBED by the Author, "For | Charles Hastings Esq. with best regards of his Sincere Friend the | Author. - | 9 Great King Street | July 30th 1818." Hastings, a contemporary of Gordon's at the Medical School, was later to have a distinguished medical career and to help found the British Medical Association.
