TLS, on letterhead of Dacres, Quantock Rod, Weston-super-Mare; 19 April 1937, 3pp., 4to, good condition. Long paranoid letter, bitterly attacking 'seaside towns', and Weston-super-Mare in particular, as 'run by councillors of the Tammany Hall type, interested in the sale of "drink" and all the various things that go with it'. 'It is absolutely unfair that people who have to live at the seaside for health reasons should be at the mercy of these gangsters, drink trafficer [sic] and worse, and that they should have to bring up their children in such a poisonous atmosphere.' He hopes that RL will forward his letter to the editor of the News Chronicle, who will 'start a movement for getting certain parts of the country put under the care of the Government and not left to the corrupt rule of the average local council'.
