4pp., landscape 8vo. On four leaves pinned together. On aged and worn paper. With numerous deletions and emendations. COPAC only lists the first edition of this book, so it may be that the second edition was not published. Dobell begins by giving his reason for attempting an abridgment: he has been 'told by Medical men & by their patients' that the book 'is too long too elaborate & too comprehensive & too expensive for ordinary purposes - & that while it may be kept as a book of reference for those who wish to study the whole subject In a <?> point of view - a very brief abstract of some of its contents is what is now wanted for daily use.' The preface stops abruptly before the end of the fourth page, and it may be that Dobell put it aside at that point.
